List of AIADMK Candidates 2026 Tamil Nadu
Chennai, March 25: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Wednesday released its first list of 23 candidates for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Election, giving an early idea of the party’s plan for the elections.
The list shows that the party is trusting its senior leaders. Party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, also known as EPS, will once again contest from his Edappadi seat in Salem district. His renomination shows the party’s confidence in his leadership.
ADMK Party Focus on familiar leaders
The AIADMK has mostly chosen sitting MLAs and experienced leaders to contest again from their usual constituencies. The party is depending on leaders who already have strong support in their areas.
K. P. Munusamy will contest from Veppanahalli in Krishnagiri district.
Dindigul C. Sreenivasan will contest from Dindigul.
Party sources say this approach will help them stay connected with voters and avoid risks.
Tamil Nadu Election date and voters
Tamil Nadu will have voting in a single phase on April 23th 2026. More than 5.69 crore voters are expected to take part. Counting will be held on May 4 and results will be announced the same day. The full election process will end by May 6.

Mix of experience and continuity
Across the first and second lists combined, Palaniswami has fielded 46 sitting MLAs, 26 former MLAs and six former MPs. The selection reflects a clear strategy of balancing experience with continuity as the party prepares for the polls.
Key constituency changes
In Bodinaickanur, a constituency that was widely expected to go to former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who recently joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the AIADMK has instead fielded VT Narayanasamy.
Similarly, in Orathanadu, which was represented by former minister R. Vaithilingam before his recent shift to the DMK, the party has nominated M Sekar.
Focus on Coimbatore region
In Coimbatore district, the AIADMK is contesting nine out of ten Assembly constituencies. Seven sitting MLAs have been given another chance, showing the party’s confidence in its existing leadership in the region.
With Coimbatore North allotted to the Bharatiya Janata Party, former MLA Amman K Arjunan will now contest from Coimbatore South.
Notable inclusions and exclusions
Former minister VM Rajalakshmi has not been fielded from Sankarankovil this time. The party has instead nominated Dilipan Jayasankar.
Leema Rose Martin, wife of businessman Santiago Martin, has been given the Lalgudi constituency. She recently joined the AIADMK after leaving the IJK and was appointed joint secretary of the party’s women’s wing.
In a significant move, former Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal has not been given a ticket this time. A senior leader, Dhanapal has been elected to the Assembly eight times. The Avinashi seat he held has now been allotted to the BJP.
Allies and seat-sharing updates
As part of alliance arrangements, the Singa Thamizhar Munnetra Kazhagam has been given the Mannachanallur constituency.
Meanwhile, A. C. Shanmugam of the New Justice Party announced that his party will contest two seats, including Madurai Central. One of the seats will be allotted by the BJP from its quota.
He also said that his party candidates will contest on the BJP’s Lotus symbol in one constituency and on the AIADMK’s Two Leaves symbol in Madurai Central.
Political significance
With 150 candidates now announced, the AIADMK has moved quickly to strengthen its campaign ahead of the elections. The mix of experienced leaders and selective changes indicates a calculated approach as the party looks to consolidate its base and challenge its rivals.
The final list, especially for Chennai and surrounding areas, is now keenly awaited as the electoral battle in Tamil Nadu gathers momentum.
